Physical exercise helps many people; sometimes reading a fantasy-type story helps too, if you're the sort of person who gets lost in what they read. More than anything, do SOMETHING to occupy your mind, so long as it's not harmful to you in some other way. If your anxiety is at a level so that it impairs your day-to-day functioning, it's time to see your doctor; there are good anti-anxiety medications that can make a world of difference. Good luck, and hang in there!

Accupuncture is really good for this. I was skeptical but amazingly it really relaxes you. Also as strange as this may sound, my anxiety gets worse if I'm over heated. When I get a panic attack I need to go into a room and turn an air conditioner on or a fan and chill myself a bit.

Keep busy. Concentrating on something other than your anxious state does wonders. Severe anxiety can lead to Panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorders, sleep disorder, eating problems, or any number dis-functions, if it's severe enough contact a doctor.

With three kids in the house and me being the only parent, I suffer from large doses of stress filled days. I find that working in my garden really helps. The repetition of pulling weeds, with the sun on my shoulders helps so much. Also, the kids stay really far away because they know if they come around me I'll ask them to pull weeds too! So I get peace and quiet with time for my own thoughts.

Simply channelise your energy constructively. Do something you enjoy. Watch a favourite movie/ talk to aan old friend, cook/ order something you really like. Being with yourself will trouble you more.
Take care..
