I found this website last night and its awsome. instead of throwing things away that you may not have been able to sell, people advertise it on this website for free. if you find something you like you email the person and make arraingments to pick it up. I found a sofa and loveseat being given away by a military family. check it out.

Yeah, my wife and I were on the St. Louis list for a while, but the group was just too huge to keep track of, and any time we listed something we got swamped with responses so we haven't done it in a while.
Great idea, needs a bit more organization than was there a few months back.

I use it all the time. Just make sure you offer things in addition to accepting. All my girls outgrown clothes and toys have been freecycled.
