We used to have several koi and minnows and they are slowly disappearing. We're certain the culprit is this beautiful crane. Normally I would welcome the visitor, but not to eat our fish friends. Help!!

Call the local zoo or wildlife refuge. They will usually remove it for free if it is causing a problem, or they will recommend someone who can.

Placing a strong mesh over the pond will help but another deterrent is to place an artificial crane near the pond. This will scare the other crane away - no harm done.

You don't say where you are located but in many countries/areas cranes & egrets are protected species & as such you are limited in what you can do.

My friend with a koi pond actually has her pond in a large enclosure made of a tough green poly fencing product. It blends into the background & you can barely see it & it keeps out the unwanted visitors including the furry ones.

Ask the local authorities if they can recommend a specialist that will advise you. If the crane has made a nest, you may have a serious problem, because it, and its offspring have put down roots.
It's probably a protected species, so don't try to kill it--talk to the authorities. B.

go to your local garden shop and buy fruit tree netting( very light weight plastic blask mesh) cover your pond with it and it will keep the crane out
we have an owl who dives into the pond and catches fish in the middle of the night , he caught two of my really good females
the net stopped him

There are wild life organizations you can contact that will remove the crane from your pond. They will give it a better home.

Bob: you understand okay that as long as i've got been answering your questions I easily have in no way as quickly as tried to impose my Christian ideals on you, or the different non-Christian or atheist, nor might I. there are a number of different Christians like me who have faith that folk have a real to have faith, or to not have faith, as they choose and that maximum everybody is on the existence course they have chosen for terribly stable motives. in case you like tolerance and know on your ideals, you may desire to objective reciprocating somewhat and showing some tolerance and know for the ideals of others -- despite in case you do not accept as true with them.
