Probably because it shows that we're not in control of our emotions then and that we're weak and vulnerable.
And all of our parents at one time or another probably berated us for crying so it became associated with something you shouldnt' do.

I don't know, maybe because it shows us when we are a little vulnerable? I think it's embarrassing too, but I sometimes can't help it! I found that if I go to somewhere and just being alone, and having a good cry does really make me feel better. Don't ask me why that helps, but it does. But around other people, no! Man, I sometimes I cry seeing weddings on tv, and my hubby likes to tease me about it!

I don't think that crying is embarrassing I like to cry it gives me good relief. The only embarrassing thing about crying would be the ugly faces.

Its only embarrassing if YOU think it is. It shows weakness and most people don't like to appear weak. I don't care if I appear weak. I'm a human being with emotions!! I should be treated accordingly, not as if you can stomp all over me and it not faze me.

I don't know... I wonder the same thing. If you're hurt, you cry. But people don't like other people seeing them vulnerable...
