marty "too old" schottenhiemer didnt let rivers throw the ball yesterday whe he should have put the game in philips hands.even if the young qb stumbles at least we dont lose it in the 4 quarter with 34 seconds left to a good football team.martys conservative play calling especially in the third quarter left many wondering if he should be replaced by someone that would use a qb of rivers quality.question are the chargers going to win against good football teams with conservative calls?

HE is still a great coach. The Redskins brought him out of retirement initially and he turned a losing team around mid season and gave them an excellent winning streak. Then Redskins brought in a different coach and the team fell apart. Shottenheimer went to the Chargers and has had an excellent run there. I think he has been using Rivers correctly considering the talent they have on that team and Baltimore's excellent defense. Ed Reed, McCallister, Ray Lewis ect. would have eaten a young quarterback up. The loss came because the defense couldn't hold off McNair on the final drive. The offense did their part.

Marty is okay - he's just past his prime. However, I'd rather have Marty than other coaches in the league. He's always been about the run, he's never trusted his quarterbacks, and he's always been conservative. But he always has a pretty good defense, a very solid running game, and manages the clock fairly well. Baltimore just came back and played well in the 4th quarter. Great strategy can't beat great players everytime and Marty just lost that one. But he's still a decent coach - past his prime, but still a decent coach.

The Chargers positioned out a fact saying that Schottenheimer became fired because of the fact he had to hire an assistant coach that the GM did not approve of. i think of that the group desperate some time past to allow him bypass yet waited till there have been not extra open jobs for a head coach. Schottenheimer probable would desire to be the coach of the Cowboys.

well, marty is good, but not too good. I don't think he should be fired. The Chargers might win with conservative calls....
What do you think?
