Tell her to go straight to his First Sergeant if he is enlisted, and if he is an officer, than she should go to his commanding officer, if she leaves and takes the child, she will have no leg to stand on, especially without his permission, also every Air Force base has a Family Affairs office, she should get in touch with them for more advice and guidance.

she should consult an attorney there in germany and also advise the commanding officer of any abuse or threats made by her husband. Get on a plane and get back to the states

she should not have told him she wants to divorce.
rather, she should have got on a plane with the child and come home.
if she's up to it she could still do that.
try to remember that normally a court will not separate mother and child unless there is good reason.
get them home first, then worry about the fallout.
