Mystic River is an American Academy Award winning film released in 2003, starring Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Kevin Bacon, Laurence Fishburne, Marcia Gay Harden, Laura Linney and Emmy Rossum. The film was written by Brian Helgeland (based on the novel Mystic River by Dennis Lehane) and directed by Clint Eastwood.

The film opened to widespread critical acclaim. It was nominated for 6 Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. Sean Penn won Best Actor and Tim Robbins won Best Supporting Actor...

Now for his best performance...
I loved the movie: The Bridges of Madison County (1995)

In the Outlaw Josey wales he spits on a dog - one of the great comic moments in cinema
In Paint Your Wagon he sings "I talk to the Trees" - one of the greatest moments of musical film history of all time
In The Good the Bad and the Ugly he defies description in one of the coolest performances ever put on film.
I could go on...

I think Unforgiven was an excellent performance and so was The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.
There's been no-one else to act like him since.
He can tell you exactly what's going on with just one look.
His face was his fortune, very expressionate!
