Right now he is saddled with two situations he cannot run from. First, he tried to mess with the darlings of the US Congress. Second he is a Republican at a time when Republicans hold a majority in Congress and are NOT doing a real fine job of handling the affairs of State.
Thank goodness he just walked out of his office and left the whole mess behind him. That shows some real Chuzpah. Now what he should do is pack a really good Kit and go walk the Appalacian Trail for about 6 Months.
Were he to do that very thing, he could come home after things quieted down and try to pick up the crumbs of his former life.
I think his political life is over, so it doesn't matter what society thinks is worse. What he should do now is to mount a campaign to eliminate SPAM over the Internet. He could gain a lot of friends that way, and possibly even sell some new software gimmic to make that happen.
Another possibility for him would be to start a campaign to charge ten cents for every EMail sent over the Internet. If some charge were levied, folks would pay more attention to EMail addresses, and not bombard the system with zillions of copies of one SPAM message. There is money to be made there if he will just get busy and work out the possibilities.

How is he being treated worse? lol... he held a seat which is tettering for a more democratic side, .. the only focus on that issue is political. As for him,, he conversed online with an underage minor, discussing sexual content. The issue isn't because he's a Republican or that he's gay (never heard that mentioned, and besides a pediophile can be straight but still molest same sex)
He's being treated less like a common offender, if anything, because of his political ties. If he was any other civilian without recognition for his political contributions, he'd be in jail right now. Hope the FBI knocks on anyone's door real soon in those situations.

Allah made the best deal paintings in brotherly love and gay marriage ruins the steadiness. Heterosexual sex works completely and it could be the way it may could be. sex is meant for procreation. Gays won't be able to have offspring via actuality their our bodies can not. adult males are not meant to have sex with different adult males and so adult males should not marry considering the element of marriage is to love a significant different of the option sex and create youthful little ones. If being gay develop into once so perfect and harmless then why are we now no longer all male or all female. Sexes were created considering it includes on existence and makes convinced we do not die out. Why do you challenge there develop into Adam and eve. Why now no longer Adam and Adam. Why no longer eve and eve. on condition that that's disgusting and is a ailment that rots away on the integrity and sanctity of our international. Being gay is filthy. they're reduce than animals and may no longer accept the perfect to marry or the perfect to also be at the same time. Allah is all understanding and he knows being gay is undesirable so why do gays bypass antagonistic to him. they're all improper.

No he's not being treated worse because he is a Republican nor gay; its because he is a pedophile, seeking children under age. At least Monica Lewinsky was over 18 years of age!

Assuming that the young men were not under age and that there is no criminal wrongdoing, the issue is really one of sexual harassment. the issue is not that he is gay or that he is Republican. The issue is of a person in a position of power subjecting someone with less power to unsolicited and probably unwanted sexual advances. That is the inappropriateness of the situation.
I've since learned that it's possible that some of the boys were under age. That should make it a criminal matter.

I think that the third choice, a child predator, is worst in the eyes of society.
Personally, I don't care that he is gay or republican. I do care that this GROWN man has involved himself in child perversion. The teen is still a minor. That, my friend, is deplorable.

I can only tell you that in my mind to be Republican is much much worse than being gay. But being an idiot is the lowest ranking of all.

Republican. In our society, you can criticize one's political views more-so than the fact one is homosexual.
but really, the fact that it is a child is why people hate him
