White people rarely have secondary relationships with other races and cultures. The dominant group could spend their lives not knowing another culture.

That statement is in my multicultural education book.

Well, I don't see it as a problem. Not always people get the chance to know other cultures. Sometimes they want, but not always they can. Now, if you are talking about prejudice, then it is wrong. I think people should interact. But then comes another problem: not all cultures are open to get to know one another. It is a messed up world, and this is such a shame. The worst comes lastly. It is when white people from North America think that white people - like me - in South America are worse than they are because they never really get the chance to learn and study that we are people just like they are. And I find this to be very sad. Unfortunatelly people tend to jump into conclusions and to pre judge before they give it a trial. Hope it helps. By the way, I am not generalizing, I love the USA, married an American but I know there is a lot of prejudice out there, especially after Sept. 11th.

I don't think that is possible in this day and time. If you are living and going about daily activities, work, shopping, traveling etc., contact with all ethnic groups is assured, minimal contact can be a type of relationship. For instance, your fav teller, or checker, or Dr.
