Skinny jeans, the ones that are so "in" right now, and tapered jeans are the wost about making your thighs and hips look bigger. Also, a very wide flare can do the same. Stick with boot cuts and narrow flares for the most complementary look that suits most women.
Also, stay away from jeans that are too tight. The wrinkles and bulges in the fabric only make you look heavier. Make sure that the denim lays flat and smooth against your body. It gives you a longer, leaner look.
