To wrap the baby in but it also comes in handy to wipe up spit up ect.. It is easier to swaddle a baby with a thinner blanket and it makes them feel more secure. I found with my older two I went through atleast 5 a day but with my son who is 4 months i do not use them very often cause he hates to be covered.

It is used for many things. But the simplest answer is light weight blanket. That's all it is, realy. It is used for swaddling the baby. It brings comfort and security because it is light weight enough to wrap the baby in a cocoon affect. This takes them back to the good Ol' days of security and comfort they had with mommy before entering this world. It serves as a light weight blanket when it's too cool to be without a blanket but too hot for a heavy blanket. Later when baby outgrows the blanket you can fold it neatly away and use it as a hand me down for the next baby in line. Or, cut in fours to use as a dust clothe. :-)

Wow the things people think of. LOL. :) Recieving blankets are good for swaddling the newborn and are lightweight enough to use year round. Babies love to be snuggled in real tight; so these light blankets are nice.

A receiving blanket is simply and light weight soft blanket that you either wrap your baby in or cover them up. It is just a blanket. You will use them every day with your infant.

It is a type of thin blanket that you swaddle your newborn in (swaddle meaning wrap up like a little package) you can also use it to put on your shoulder when burping the baby to reduce the amount of spit up on your clothing, can also be used to cover your chest and child while breastfeeding (although they make breastfeeding covers) They are pretty handy and if you are pregnant I suggest you invest in a whole bunch of them :)

It's the blanket you use to recieve the baby in your arms. To keep them warm since they cannot regulate their temperature. It's why they get little hats too. You can use it beyond that. But that is its main purpose.

It is just nice little square blankets that are great to swaddle the baby in when they are small since you can wrap them up nice and tight so they feel secure. They are great since you dont mind if they spit up on them or they get soiled since they are nothing special so if they get ruined no big deal.

Don't know what there intended purpose is but I know they are mutli-purpose and as far as I am concerned you can never have enough. They are great to swaddle newborns in, can be used as light blankets, and in a pinch can be used as a burp rag (which is what I commonly use mine for because those things that are intended to be burp rags are just to small). It'll be interesting to see what other people do with them.

It'ss just a convenient soft flannel blanket to wrap the baby in papoos style...womb like for the baby and make it easier to feed and hold the baby...on hand over to someone else to do it. Many are needed...seems new mom's never have enough of them. They usually come in packages of 3.
