He might, but I also think it's possible that he may get saved by Snape or Wormtail. Harry saved Wormtail's life, and remember Dumbledore did say the time may come that Harry will be glad he did that. As far as Snape goes, Dumbledore trusted him completely for a reason, maybe Snape really did feel guilty for his responsibility for James' and Lilly's deaths, maybe Snape made a different "unbreakable vow" with Dumbledore to do everything in his power to protect Harry so Harry can destroy Voldermort.
That's some of the ideas I've been kicking around. I think it would ruin the books if Harry, Ron, Hermione, or Ginny die in the end... but I am just a reader, and that is just my opinion.

No. I believe the talk of Harry's demise is based on JK Rowling's ego. I think she wants to kill him off so that nobody else can write a Harry Potter Book or movie script after she's done with it. I have a feeling, however, that someone is going to get ahold of her and point out that the Harry Potter universe can be a money maker for her for the rest of her life if she doesn't do anything dopey like killing off the hero.

I really hope not. I'm still having trouble dealing with Dumbledore's death. If Harry, Ron, Hermione, or Ginny die, I will be beside myself with grief. I really don't see JKR having evil prevail (although it's been done in other books) and having Harry die.

In a way, I can't wait to have this book in my greedy little hands, but at the same time I dread it's release because it's enevitable that important characters will perish.

Many years ago there was an article in Writer's Digest magazine entitled "The Lure of the Reichenbach," which dealt with the urge authors sometimes feel to kill off successful characters (the title comes from a story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in which he, kind of tired of the unexpected success of the Sherlock Holmes stories, kills off the famous detective--it backfired, because the public was so fond of the character that Doyle later had to bring him back with an explanation of how he DIDN'T die).

I wonder if Rowling is feeling a tug in this direction?

I hope not, but it's possible.

No, I don't think so. The author said main characters will die, but I beleive Harry will defeat Voldemort and live. Although it will have very sad moments I think it will end on a somewhat happy note with good overcoming evil as most stories do.

I'm not sure if Harry will die, but I think one of the "group" will die. Whether it, be Ron or Hermione or Ginny or Harry.

I doubt he's going to die(it's a possibility). But in any case he has to kill Voldemort first. I don't buy into the whole Harry has to die in order to defeat Voldemort theory.

~*~I hope not! That would be a horribly sad trick to play on all the children that love Harry, & are devout readers of the books. I would hope J.K. Rowling would love our children more than that!

Of course he will. Because the writer doesn't want the story picked up by someone else later.
