I've been playing in a band for three years now and we are doing OK but still need a record contract. Could you chq my site and tell me what you think, or how we could improve. The site is http://www.molotovusk.com

Everyone who gives a negative comment is apologising. Don't worry about it. I need feed back which is negative to see where we can improve. Thanks for the positive feedback too though as it makes me feel that I am getting somewhere.

Not sure you really want to hear this but...virtually all the songs in the demo sound alike.

Almost all of them begin the same, or very nearly. i.e. Solo guitar playing a melody line for a few bars, followed by drums and then the whole band bashing it up.

And while the songs may be original to your band, they sound pretty standard - the usual fare for bands on the make. Kind of derivative and nothing really all that original there.

And while bandwidth may limit the sound quality, the mix on the demos was pretty poor - muddy and no articulation. Vocals buried under thrashing guitars.

What exactly does your band stand for? I think you need to find a real voice. What do you believe? What is your purpose?

What sets you apart from the bazillion other bands dying for a record deal?

When you have figured out why you exist, then you may have something to say that people will want to hear.

Really average, sorry. Kind of lacking in passion and originality. You have a career mapped out playing average venues to smallish crowds. I like guitar music and I hate being critical (I'm in a band myself, and criticism hurts!) but seriously, if you weren't in the band and heard them playng from a stereo or stumbled across them at a gig, would you have any recolection of it a month later?

Hope that helps, don't mean to be nasty...

What you need is some kind of publicity stunt. Trying playing naked on an open top bus through the streets of Aberdeen.
