It's normal to have contractions you don't feel for a while. Then you'll have contractions that you do feel that don't really hurt, but are just annoying. Then comes the ones you feel. Most doctors say to go to the hospital when they're 5 minutes apart or when your water breaks. Your water may not break on its own, or it may break but take a while for contractions to start. Either way, if your water is broken, go to the hospital.

An average labor for a first baby is 12-20 hours, with 1.5-2 hours of pushing. So the chances of having a first baby at home are slim to none, unless you meant to.

yes.

If your water has broken you need to go to the hospital. Even if you are only leaking fluid, the risk of infection is large if you don't go to the hospital.
If you are bleeding go to the hospital.

My doctor was convinced that I was in labor once, when I told her I was not having contractions she said I had to go to the hospital to be monitered because she was sure I was in early labor. I wasn't but I could have been.

Do you have any other signs? Have you lost your mucus plug?

Good Luck...feel free to email me with any other questions

Yes, you can start to dialate and not even know it and dialation is the begining of the labor process, no the baby won't just fall out. At some point you will know you are in labor. Good luck.

Yes, sometimes it just feels like a bit of a backache. Sometimes you don't feel much at all. If you think that you may be in labor, go ahead and go to the hospital, if you're not, they'll send you home again. Congrats on your baby!

Most certainly;
when my mom gave birth to me, she never felt any contractions, as she has terrible back pain. The doctor told her she was in labor before she even knew it. She was only in the hopsital because she was supposed to have labor induced, however, as I mentioned b4, she was there without realizing it.
