I would try to use a data recovery program. I have used StompSoft's Recover Lost Data for some time now and have had great success recovering pictures, emails and other assorted files. It worth a shot. There should be a link for a trial download somewhere on this page here:

To recover all types of deleted files you can download Wondershare Data Recovery -> http://bitly.com/1qaJLv4
Any time that a file is deleted on a hard drive, it is not erased. Instead, the information that points to the location of the file on the hard drive is erased. This pointer, along with other pointers for every folder and file on the hard drive, is saved in a section near the beginning of the hard drive and is used by the operating system to compile the directory tree structure. By erasing the pointer file, the actual file becomes invisible to the operating system. Eventually, the hard drive will write new data over the area where the old file is located. The data recovery utilities search for data on the hard drive that does not have corresponding pointer information and present you with a list of these files. Your chances of fully recovering a file diminish the longer you wait after you deleted the file since the probability that the file has been overwritten increases.

You can often successfully recover deleted formatted photo video document files from a flash card PC, phone or camera memory card or USB Memory stick, it just depends on what’s happened since the files were deleted.
When you delete files the data itself isn’t deleted, just the index entry that says where the data for those files is located. The space containing the deleted files is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.
If and when that happens, then it becomes too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important to not save any new files or data to the device concerned.
If the deleted files are on a memory card or USB memory stick, just don’t save any new files to it.
One of the easiest ways to see if you can recover deleted files is to try some file recovery software. Recommended asoftech data recovery as it saved my life many times.

Check to see if the CD is physically damaged--we're talking deep scratches or foreign substances or deformations to the label. Hold the CD up to a light--if you can see light through the label, you're screwed--there's nothing you can do. Scratches, however, can be repaired with the use of a Skip Dr.--check http://www.digitalinnovations.com/ for more information on that--but they work well, I've used them in the past. Beyond that, you could try professional data recovery services, but be prepared to accept the possibility that the data is unrecoverable. Good luck!

If it hangs using Explorer then why not try in MS DOS. You could use the "xcopy" command and copy all the files to your computer. To learn how the xcopy function works type "HELP XCOPY" in the command line. It is sure to copy without hanging.

In fantastic that component of the pc, you will possibly have by twist of fate destroyed the confusing disk. those issues are very delicate. i think of that it *is* available to recuperate archives from confusing drives that have suffered actual destruction, yet I easily have purely ever heard of it as quickly as: the guy in Connecticut who shot up all those childrens in that college had curiously taken a hammer to his laptop's confusing disk earlier he set off off, and the law enforcement officers/FBI are supposedly employing this technologies to piece the innovations on the rigidity lower back mutually. i actually don't understand if that would take place for you nevertheless. considering you have an installation disc, you may restoration the laptop in case you will desire to purchase a clean confusing rigidity of a similar specification (probable 2.5 inch SATA). yet each and every little thing would be new and clean, there quite is not any sensible way of having all that stuff lower back. Startup restoration won't assist you if the disk itself is destroyed, despite in case you permit it run for a decade.
