OK, dont go with yellow...that'd just be gross. Try a pale bouquet (think blush and cream) with splashes of brighter colors--red or orange. Keep them warm. If it is a fall wedding, you should definitely go with red and orange. If it is a winter wedding go with maybe blue and purple. Congrats!

Traditionally, the flowers should be the bride's colors. If she has two or three colors, then the flowers should be in those colors. If she only has the one color, then the bouquets should be only the shade of white she is using, and the gold flowers.
However, there are no real rules for weddings anymore. The bride can choose to use whatever flowers she wants.
If she only has gold as her bridal color, and she wants to add more color to the flowers to brighten the look, and still complement the color of the maid's dresses, then I would stick with deeper colors. The dresses themselves are bright enough, so adding a vivid color, like fuchsia, might look garish. Since gold is a shade of yellow, I would stay away from shades that closely match it: yellows, oranges, and yellow-greens. The bouquets might fade into the dress too much. I would go with a rich shade to stay with the jewel tone, and still stand out from the dresses, like a ruby red, or violet.
Just some sample color pictures.

White flowers would be good for any color. Also you should pick something that can create a contrast so like most people said, red (roses for instance) would be fine.

I would try splashes of red. I went to one wedding with this colour scheme this year and it worked very well.
