Things will change over the next few years. You need to stay committed to your goal. Who knows. You might be 100 pounds heavier and you need to inprove your speed like another email said to run hills. Also, you need to strart wrestling, no matter if you are any good or not. STAY WITH IT! It is the best sport there is for football. It is very difficult and it takes a lot of gutts to wrestle. My brother played 10 years in the NFL and was an excellent wrestler. He wrestled at a major college and wrestled. He was also a first round draft choice in the NFL draft. I wrestled from grade school through college. The wrestling helped my quickness, agility and mental toughness. Football was easy compared to wrestling. I guess it depends on how much you want to work for your goal. At this time, I would try out for strong saftey or maybe a defensive end if your team is playing a 52 defense. Good Luck and do not forget your work ethic and what you want to be doing in 5 years( P.S. you also need to run track not matter what. It will help your speed!

I would suggest the defensive/offensive lineman position to start. It sounds like your new 2 playing since u have not established a position. Lineman get very little attention but are important in deciding the games outcome. Work on your speed and try out for a linebacker. A very exciting position on D. If you like the ball in your hands try out 4 Halfback and truck through the D. Tip-play Madden 06 or 07 video game. U can learn alot about plays and positions. Good Luck.

If you like the game enough play any position, but ALWAYS play the ball, keep your eyes on it, find it, get it, play the football. Also, practice handling the ball even if it's no more than throwing it up high as you can and running for it, this will help improve your speed. If you can get Coach Parcel DVD on coaching. Work those legs out as much as you can, speed is great but practice your lateral movement, if noone can handle you one on one you'll be awesome, unless you're a lineman, even there speed helps, but mostly strenght. For the most part, when you go out for H.S. football, the coach will position you, if he sees you have game. Practice, practice, practice, if you do the time, it'll pay off.

Hmmm, you're a bit small for the offensive line, and a bit weak for the defensive side as well. Try for a weak-side linebacker or maybe a tight end position (depending on your height). You don't need amazing speed for either, just attention to what's going on.

Work on your reaction timing and foot speed to you become more quick at either Linebacker or Tightend.
