i had it with my first two and ended up with emergency c-sections so my third was an elective section to avoid that complication...i was told by midwives that it was uncommon in 2nd & 3rd pregnancies if all the babys had the same father and was frequently asked if my babies had different dads! (no they dont!!)

There is an increased risk of preeclampsia with the first pregnancy, and in very young women. Some people always have it, some people don't get it again. Your doctor will monitor you more closely because of your history, and you will be more prepared and know the signs.

So you might, or you might not. No way to know until you get there, so worrying isn't going to accomplish anything but give you a little extra stress.

I asked my dr. the same question. I had it with my first child too and wondered the same thing. The dr. told me that it is more common in first pregnancies than second. I am 40 weeks pregnant and have had no problems with blood pressure or swelling this time. What a relief. So dont panic, chances are you will be OK this time.

I was pre-eclamptic with my first and had her at 32 weeks. I was fine with my second but now pre-eclamptic again with my 3rd. I'm 37 weeks now though so I'm sure I'm going to deliver a healthy boy. :) Just keep an eye out for swelling and dizziness, headaches, blurry vision, high BP, and protien in your urine. You should be okay.

I read that pre-eclamcia is much more common in the first pregnancy than in subsequent pregnanies...

My wife didn't have it with her second baby, only with her first.
