Labor in general can make a woman sick to her stomach. The contractions should start in your lower abdomen and either work their way up or work their way back. That's over a peiod of a few seconds and they don't necessarilly have to be very strong. The only way to really know that they are real is that they get stronger with time and they are regular. They have to be regular. If they are less than 10 minutes apart, then you need to head to the hospital.

I asked the same question that you are asking and I found out my answer. When the real contractions hit you will know and I did get sick to my stomach from the muscles tightening up however contractions and being sick to your stomach can be a sign of something not right because most women do not get sick when in labor.

You'll know when you are having contractions. Even if this is your first pregnancy. They don't make you feel sick to your stomach, but you can feel a bit uncomfortable and some pressure. Every time you feel a contraction it's almost like your muscles gets pulled apart or something...

each woman is different, mine didn't start hurting until about 5 hours later...

Good luck and have a healthy and happy delivery!

Braxton Hicks is irregular and less intense. Also, lasts no more than an hour at a time. Real labour is precisely timed,,,and m0re intense.
