A very annoying concept when you're trying to get your head round it.

infinity is a concept. it is simply used to describe something which has no limit. the simplest way i can think to describe it is if you look at the graph of e ^x for x larger than 0. the graph will never cross the x-axis although it will continue to get closer and closer. you can put a value of x as large as you can imagine and the line will still not cross the x-axis. it will only ever meet the x-axis at infinity.

I think it a concept rather than a reality but I suspect that doesn't really help. I like to think of it as the ultimate large point in space time. Things can tend to infinity but never get there.

Best explanation of Infinity is at the centre of a wheel, it's where the rotation changes from one direction to the opposite direction. You can never reach it. However, it must exist otherwise wheels would not rotate.

Have you ever seen one of those weird pictures (drawings or paintings?) where you look an you see a staircase going up only to be the bottom of something when it's 'gone up'? Infinity is like that!

think of space and the end of the known universe - when you get there what happens afterwards? once the edge of space is reached what comes next = keep thinking outwardly and there must be an end - mustn't there?? if you just keep going where do you end up? back at the beginning? like being inside a ball - but then what is on the outside of the ball?? ooohh this is starting to hurt my head !!!!

Something that isn't finite (ie, fixed) a variable and/or unknowable figure.
eg. one third expressed as a decimal is 0.3333 recurring to infinity.
Infinity can also refer to the infinately small, eg that which occurred prior to Planck Time.

apparently a black hole is so empty its is then reversed and becomes so solid...so a black hole is not a hole its solid...so the infinite is never ending but apparently so is a black hole..

Infinity...add infinitum
