If you have the materials and are fairly creative...you could make her a family photo album of her growing up..(if u have the photos of course)...start from the youngest one you have of her and build them up as you go through the album....Make the album, girly, glittery, whatever she likes..include pets, things she had, has etc....write in a fancy gold pen above the pictures, ages etc, if you go to a craft shop you can find some really nice things to stick amongst the pages, beads, ribbons etc....It sounds a bit boring i know, but she'd really appreciate the sentiment and as you'd hand made it she'll value it all the more...

Let her have a slumber party where she and her friends can give each other make-overs and paint each others nails, do each others hair etc. Let her have a boy/girl party earlier with music, munchies and make a home made cake. Don't forget the ice cream. If you go to a dollar store, you should be able to get some nice party favors and muchies for the party. If you need an easy, but great chocolate cake recipe just e-mail me thru my profile. I will give you one. Hope it all turns out great for you and her. I know what it is like to have a birthday party on a very limited budget. My daughter's is coming up in 2 weeks. Good luck.

At this age friends are so important. Invite her friends over for a surprise party. They can make their own pizza. Not only is it inexpensive to make, but they'll have fun too. You can bake her a cake, and if you don't know how to decorate it, then ask her friends to help you out before the party. Whenever I know we have a birthday coming up, I try to buy drinks, and snacks a little at a time. That way, it won't be too much money at once. You could rent a movie or two, let them make their pizza (unless you can buy it somewhere cheaper), and/or cheese dip, and they'll have fun. Also, for napkins, plates, etc, look on the clearance isles at K-mart, and Wal-mart. They sometimes have solid colored paper plates, and napkins on clearance. That will be less clean up. Good luck!

Well... I have been there a few times.. ( short of money) I think a wonderful start to "her" special day, would be her favorite breakfast in bed. Why not wake her, with a chorus of "Happy Birthday to You". Maybe you could both climb in the bed and eat together. Tickle, giggle, laugh.... Write her a beautiful letter, telling her how special she is, and this day is.. because this is the day God presented her to you and the world. Maybe you could make a colage with your favorite pictures of her, over the years. Whether you have money or not... You are blessed to have eachother. Maybe invite in, or go visit her favorite people. Play some games (Backgammon, and Scrabble have kept us busy, together, and happy through times when money was short) You could do a "spa" day, and give eachother facials, manicure, pedicure. Just fill the day with love, she will feel it.

Throw her a little surprise party at home. You can get cheat decorations everywhere. Invite all her friends with either cheat invitions or email. If she doesn't want a party take her and her closest friend(s) out to a nice restaurant. It's a great way to save money!

Cook her favorite foods for dinner and then serve it to her in a very classy style like a restaurant. Let her invite her boyfriend or a couple girlfriends if she wants to.
Make her favorite cake or dessert. Whatever she wants.

Start the day by going to the church and pray. Thanking God for another year the years to come. Family bonding (ie. strolling in malls or in parks and have a dinner together).
