He will be discharged from the hospital in about 3 and a half weeks. He has already had his 2 months immunizations and will have his second monthly RSV immunization next week. His doctor says he is the greatest premature baby success story he has seen in a long time. He said when he is discharged in 3 weeks; he will be no different than a perfectly normal, full term infant. He is not showing signs of any complications due to his prematurity. His lungs are fully developed. He is breathing on his own without any aid of oxygen supplements. After he is discharged, will it be safe to take him out when I take my other 2 Trick or Treating?

my daughter was 10 weeks premature and spent 8 weeks in the hospital. she came home on oxygen and an apnea monitor. We weren't allowed to take her to any inclosed places until RSV season was over. However, I could take her to parks & other outdoorpots. If you are going to walking outside, there will be less chance of germs and the air might do him some good.

Just dress him warm, put a netting over his stroller and don't let anyone touch.

Well hun,i must say it is wonderful to hear that he is doing so well.God works miracles, when we feel that nothing can be done.I dont think you should bring him out this year.Simply, because there is a bit of a nip in the air and its kind of chilly for a little baby.I understand of course you want to take him out,but i would avoid it.Have your husband take the older children out,and you and the little man can pass out candy to other trick or treaters.Just becareful when you open the door and make sure he is wrapped up really well.Good luck and God bless you.I am so happy for your family!Again this is merely my opinion,i am not doctor. My neice was a 5 months baby, she was nearly 4 months early, and that year we did not take her trick or treating, however she was born in March, and we brought her home in June.Although, after them saying she wouldnt make it,she is now 7 years old and the smartest litttle girl.:)

I wouldn't. My daughter was born only 2 weeks early on October 8, 2003 and I didn't take her out for Halloween that year. Even healthy newborns are more susceptible to sickness than older kids and grown-ups. I understand you're excitement and wanting to take him out and show him off, but the world may just have to wait a few more weeks. I never even took my full term babies out until they were 6 weeks old.

First of all ~ I am so happy for you & your baby doing well. PRAISE THE LORD !! As far as taking him out on Halloween, I would play it safe and go ahead and keep the sweet little guy in this time. Just to be careful, you don't want to risk him having to go back into the hospital. You take care and once again, I am so happy for you all :)

GOD WAS LOOKING OVER YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. HOW OLD ARE YOUR OTHER CHILDREN? WOULD YOUR HUSBAND BE ABLE TO BRING YOUR OTHER ANGELS OUT? I WOULD PERSONALLY KEEP THE LIL' GUY HOME SO HE'S NICE AND WARM AND AWAY FROM THE COOL AIR. IT WOULD BE PERFECT TIME FOR YOU AND YOUR SON TO BOND. PREMATURE BABIES IMMUNE SYSTEM IS STILL WEAK. GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY AND HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE HALLOWEEN.

That is something you should ask your child's Dr. If it was my baby I would not take him out.

What a happy story :) Thanks for sharing it. I'm not sure if it would be safe or not, nor would i venture a guess. Ask his doctor.
