Probably because they're not well-known, mass-market games. We have the same problem here on the other side of the pond. Members of my game group buy all of our games online for that reason and because they're much cheaper, even after adding shipping costs.

You usually have to look in specialized gaming stores; some comic stores (at least in the US) also carry such indy games.
