I've worked in the same restaurant as a hostess for about a year and a half now. In the beginning, I loved it. I still liked it after a while of being there, but lately, I absolutely hate it. I get along well with most of my coworkers, but there are 3 or 4 of them who will start huge fights with me and scream in my face. The restaurant is family owned, so all of the managers are brothers and sister, and the sister's best friend. They will constantly fight with each other and then take it out on the employees. All of them are totally miserable and the one who's there most often plays favorites big time. No one else knows how to do their job so I'm always stuck doing everything. No one appreciates anything though. Since I'm in the front, I'm the one who gets screamed at by the customers. I'm tired of it.

I have three months left before I go to college. I don't know if I should just stay for the rest of the year until I leave, or if I should quit now and find a new job for a few months.

The problem with working for a small family run business is that you become part of the "family" eventually, and we all know how families act when they are around each other long enough.

In your case, it seems this is what's happening. It's not very professional and in the long run could damage your work ethic psyche. Working in a small family business environment has it's rewards at times. You feel more important at what you do, more appreciated and less a "cog" in the "wheel" (like with more corporate workplaces) but the down side is being sucked into small family issues and ideology.

I'd leave now before it damages your spirit to much more, (even if you only have three more months). You shouldn't have to deal with people in your face for any reason, let alone co-workers. Find another small job for the remainder of the time before college. There are plenty of them out there. Then you'll feel less stressed when the time comes for you to focus on starting your college years.

Have fun and good luck!

If you are leaving for school in a few weeks why bother looking for another job. You have hung in this long so why give up with just three months left to go?

Try to do your best and avoid confortations as much as possible tilll you leave. When you do leave, if all you say is true, I would not doubt that your absense will be noted and they will see what a great assett you were.

You should be proud that you hung in there this long! Great work ethics like that will be a plus on any resume'!

Hi if you really find it hard to stay then go no one should put up with that kind of abuse. They are obviously jealous that you can do all their jobs standing on your head. If you do decide to stay then treat your job as a stage your colleagues are the actors and you're the audience and just laugh at the them for their stupidity and childish behaviour and don't let them drag you down. the upside of this is you only have 3month's to go and they're stuck with it. He he he

I think that you should a) look for another job and b) try to stay away from any thing that has friendship out side of work. or maybe you could just take the time off and just enjoy the rest of live.

Being miserable everyday is not worth it. You can always get a job for three months.

If you can find a new job, go for it. No one should be subjected to that kind of abuse.
