I have a houseplant, do'nt know the name.(the leaves are in the shape of the ace of spades) I've repotted it and it grows extremely well. It's getting too big and long. What is the proper way to cut the plant and re-plant them. Thanks for helping!

This sounds like a very common house plant with the name of "Pothos". You can cut the runners anywhere you would like - there is no rule on how much. I give my a good "haircut" every 6 months or so. You can root the pieces you have cut off by cutting the tips off to about 6" and putting them in a jar or vase of water. Roots should start growing in a matter of weeks. When the roots reach 3 to 4 inches long, then you can stick them in your existing pot, or start yourself a new one. Good luck!

My thumb is green on the outside and black on the inside, lol.

I can grow just about anything in the world outside but when it comes to house plants inside, it turns out to be a very sad situation.

Try the website davesgarden.com. It's a fantastic community of gardeners, has lots of info and lots of pics.'

I agree, it sounds like a pothos... just remember when u trim, to cut between the leaves, on an angle..... u can also stick the clippings in a glass of water and let them re-root themselves.....

There is no way to help without know what the plant is...it could be a philodendron....if so take cuttings, root in water....but specific information is impossible.

Me. Unfortunately, as is the way with green thumbs, they are usually black and grimy, with thorn holes and ragged nails.
