She can't play for the USA unless she becomes
a US citizen. She came to the USA to train and to
live, but she still has strong feelings for her homeland,
Russia. I think it will depend on how far Sharapova
goes into the draw on the week preceding the Fed
Cup tie. I think the farther she goes into a tournament,
the less likely you will see her playing Federation Cup.
I can see her playing the late rounds in Fed Cup, if
Russia is still around, but not the early rounds. The
Russians can afford to play without her, since they
are deep with Safina, Petrova, Myskina, Kuznetsova,
Dementieva and others that are capable players.
Check out the WTA Rankings and you will see why
the Russians can afford to save Sharapova for the
later rounds, if at all. They are deep enough to win
the Fed Cup without her, so her presence isn't necessary
for them to win the trophy.

she has the russian nationality so she could represent russia plus she's in the top 10 women.
but the reason why she hasn't been representing russia is because the other russians players hate sharapova because she left her home town country and never sets foot back there.
in other words, they consider her as an american not a russian

I don't think she will play.
She is not in good terms with other Russian players.

she ought to play for the us , she has been here for most of her life . Played all of her tennis here and lives in florida , I really think her accent is fake !!!!!
