I think that's quite an interesting twist on that saying. However, I do feel it somehow has a deeper meaning to it. In books, a bookmark serves as an object to mark the page he has stopped at, and also to allow one to continue on from there. Therefore in your context, the bookmark might signify a pause (a negative one) in one's life due to various circumstances, and that it's essential for that person to flip his "book of life" to the bookmarked page and carry on from there till the last page. Of course, the book will never be finished until the person passes on as he is the author of the book.

Well, these are just some of my thoughts on your phrase :)

I will judge a book not only it's cover, bookmark and size of the book. My angle of judgment is on the contents and presentation of the subject in a thought provoking manner.

Don't judge a person by their outward appearance but by what's on the inside. How creative of a book mark are they? A dull brown one or a vibrant orange?

yeah. Pretty good. If the bookmark is deep, then the book may be a good read.

It means at first sight don't judge but when you read it or get to know it then you can judge
