Most of the country is an ignorant trusting group of followers.
Free Independant thinkers are a minority. If these thinkers were a majority their power in numbers would have at the very least made a grand attempt to stop the horrendous deceipt of the Bush administration. All administrations have lies but none as big as this time around. Some equate it to Hitlers regime.

Because we as a people have forgotten how to stand up for ourselves. When a government is caught in a lie, do we protest? Do we stand up and say "this isn't right and I demand that you make it right?" No. We throw up our hands and say "ah well, what can you do?" and let it happen again and again. I swear that if we held them more accountable, and if they knew there would actually be consequences for their behavior, they'd get their act together.

The government, when it acts, does so in our name, because they are our representatives. So when they act badly, they're making us all look bad.

Lets look at it like this; If we knew then what we know now, given that they told us that this is exactly how things would be because of the things they truly intended to do, providing they were elected. Who would vote for them, no one so it is better to falsely lead us into what we want to believe so that they get what they want.

I don't know. Maybe because if the government told the population everything it was doing, it would also tip off terrorists? This government is no more secretive than it has to be!
