If you got a degree in law but you didn't go to a top school like Yale or Harvard but you did pass the bar exam and got your an license will employer really not hire you because you didn't go to a top school?
How much of a difference could it possibly make if you don't go to a top school but you do get your degree?

A top college absolutely makes a difference!
First, the fact that the school accepted you is a major plus.
Secondly, that you made it thru and graduated is another feather in your cap.
Last, but by no means least.....the networking opportunities that are available to you as a result of having gone thru that top school cannot be underestimated!!!!!

Yes. To use your example, the top law firms have a limited number of positions open each year. Do they favor applicants from the top rated law schools? Of course!

Getting a degree is very important. Having a degree from a "top" institution may help with a few select companies to get in the "door". It doesn't help to keep you there, but it may be that extra nudge to get in.

BTW: You couldn't figure this out yourself?????? In life, it also pays to be a little "street smart".... if not... no degree will be enough.

No one has ever offered me employment based on the university from which I graduated. They're more interested in confirming that you did go to school & reached your goal of graduation & licensing.

I don't think it matters. Some people might shy away from Ivy League type people.
