At one point he often set people up in a situation with the "Prat family," a bunch of actors who all wore big glasses and were totally clumsy - if someone was working in a shop, they'd come and cause havoc knocking all the stuff over and breaking everything! Wally Prat was the son and I remember him the most.

There was also the young guy who had a job interview and the man who was interviewing him was encouraging him to express himself with his interpersonal skills and made him pull his trousers down to his ankles and say "Howdy doody, I'm your man!" over and over again until he got it right. The poor guy got totally sucked in and went along with it before JB finally popped his head through the door!

The other one I can remember was that someone had parked their car in a car park and left it there for about an hour. Meanwhile, the crew swapped it for a replica car with the same number plate, brought in some workmen and a demolition machine and totally smashed up the car. The bloke came back and went crazy but the workmen didn't bat an eyelid and said the car shouldn't have been parked there because work was in progress (they'd put up massive signs and a fake fenced-off area right near the car while he'd been gone and claimed this work had been going on for a good couple of weeks). Of course, the usual policeman with glasses and a huge beard eventually turned up on the scene and revealed himself in the end!

What a great series Beadle's About was. I think it's high time a similar set-up programme came back on our screens!

I still can't figure out how people were fooled by this. The poor victim usually arrived home from work one day to find the gas/electricty/telephone company (delete as appropriate) digging up their front garden, cue lots of swearing, where the workers would call their foreman to take the argument to the next level, followed by a visit from a man from the council, and then Beadle himself disguised as a policeman with a fake beard. It was all complete rubbish.

I think I remember one where some woman visited an auction where all the items on sale were from her house which was quite amusing. Mostly though he was just really annoying.

I remember one joke he played on a woman - he took an exact copy of her car - towed it away and then crushed it!
