Go here: http://www.demon.net/toolkit/internettools/ and put in everything *after* the @ symbol. Try DNS lookup and WHOIS. That should give you what you're after - or at least where the person/company registered the domain is. Traceroute is also handy.

Yes. I hate giving this advice because it tells the spammers how I trace them! lol Highlight the email and press alt - enter together and it will give you the email header - now you can get the IP of the person who sent it to you. If it starts with 84.13 for example it's a European IP including the UK. Then go to Internetfrog and do an Whois on the IP. You may have to go to the RIPE web site too and again do a whois. I start at Internet frog and work my way around the world! The central database is IANA I think. Yes, Internet Assigned Numbers Authority That's for the whole world and so you should get links from there. If you get the Nigeria scam - you can get their web page and answer the email giving them a phone number for the police in Lagos or something! lol When you do an Whois it usually tells you the ISP - and that tells you the country. My IP is dynamic and so changes - basically every time I disconnect from the Internet. So it can be 84.13 or 89.13 followed by two more sets of digits. If you are not on a network. Go to accessories and get the command prompt and type ipconfig to find out your IP. But Internetfrog will tell you that too and it will tell your your actual download speed. While you are on the Command prompt try tracert www.google.com - that may tell you a little about the IP numbers of the server you are attached to and if you're lucky all the servers you go through to get to google. Keep this information to yourself. I don't want all the spammer and amateur hackers knowing we're on to them. lol

I found this site, often the trace cannot be completed but it's a start... http://www.abika.com/Reports/verifyemail.htm
If you right click on your email and select options (Outlook) This will show the headers of the email with IP addressess.
Get the IP address and do a google on 'trace ip' there are many sites which will do a trace.

If you follow this link and download Neotrace Express this will help you. If you look at the header information of the email it will give you the IP address of the originator, copy and paste into search bar of Neotrace and it will locate them for you
