To get rid of a musty mothball smell in an old chest or trunk, put a coffee can with some kitty litter deodorizer inside the trunk overnight. By morning the smell should be gone.

I doubt that you will. The smell should keep insects out of your chest of drawers. You could try some of those sachet things like potpourri layer them in with your clothes the chest. You could varnish over the inside too. The inside of a chest I like natural though.

properly, they're donning all that wool to maintain their old bones heat and those outfits do charm to a solid portion of moths. i think possibly they could be putting some strategic mothballs of their undies to further evade the invasion.

Baking Soda is worth a try, also - if you live somewhere that you can set the drawers in full hot sun.

You can't. Just use it to your advantage and put some foldable wools in there! The moths won't come near it.

a box of baking soda absorbs odors. And it's cheap. I would spread it around and let it sit awhile.
