i was gonna say never but then I remembered my disastrous date with Monsieur Guichardon in Paris - spent the friday evening rollerblading around the city with about 200 other random folks ( they used to do this every week in paris ) and me and him ended up having a very swanky dinner with loads of wine and i remember fat slices of chocolate cake. We got on to talking about taking risks and for some reason or another thought it funny to leg it out of the restaurant. ONly he was very apt at rollerblading and nmanaged to scoot out unseen and me being a complete novice / dork fell into the door on my way out and onto my a*se - which didnt impress the waiting staff much . Luckily he was a gentleman and came back - making up some random story which no self -respecting waiter should have believed but did . And funny enough didnt see him much after that ...

No. But once we asked for bill over 6 times and waited more than an hour, In the end my husbad told the waiter that if they didn't bring the bill within the next five minutes we would walk out. Five minutes later - No bill. We got up slowly gathered our belonings and SLOWLY walked towards the door waiting to be stopped and given the bill. Nobody came, no bill was given so and we walked out the restaurant!!

Years ago we did a runner from Pizza Hut after an all you can eat buffet.

Worked fine except my friend felt guilty and so we ended up going back to pay, explaining that we had forgotton.

No, but I did do a runner from a tattoo parlour in Mallorca. The girl came out to say it was ready and me and my friend were running down to street to Burger King!

Yes, to my shame. It was at pizza hut in Liverpool - everyone else in the place seemed to be doing a runner too. The worst thing was that I couldn't eat all my pizza and got them to put in a box for me, so I ran with it under my arm!

Legged it from a Beefeater in Windsor in about '90. There were three of us. The passage to the loos also led out onto the street, so it was too good a chance to miss.

I havent ever left without paying the bill, but the "dine and dash" thing is pretty common, as is the "driveaway" thing where people don't pay for their fill of petrol. It is all stealing, and doesn't seem worth the risk to me, so I would never do it.

I've always wanted to many times with friends but never got round to really doing it!

These days, a lot of restaurants have cameras fitted!

I believe you are referring to what I have heard called "dine and dash", and no, I never have. But about 20 years ago, the waitress was extremely s l o w about getting us our bill one day (after rather poor service in general) and my mother got fed up. So we left the table and waited at the cash register to get our bill. Boy, was that waitress flipping when she saw the table was empty! She was so shaken up she could hardly get her act together after that, and had to give someone else the bill to give to us. My mother said it served her right for such lousy service. It really was bad, for me to remember it so many years later.
