This is a longstanding problem and so far I have tried various HEPA filters, dust mite treatments and allergy treatments. It is a problem because it is irritating to have the home dirty even with so much cleaning but mainly because it makes me sneaze and can give me a bad night's sleep. I suspect the source is lint from clothes, but I cant figure out why they should produce so much more than anyone else's! I have just ordered some lint balls which may reduce the lint. Any help in how to figure out what this dust is, where it is coming from and most importantly how to get rid of it very welcome!

I have a similiar problem, where is the discharge on your dryer vent, and can it be the furnace is picking up lint and dust from the Basement- by drawing it into the area where the Filter is, my filter is not tight, so I know dust is being sucked in there, plan to fix that problem, today.

Similar to one answer,It just may be your vacuum cleaner. If its the bag collecting type then it may be the outlet filter that needs replacing. We had the same simply by thinking that when we vacuum and of course the area the nosle or vacuum head goes over visually is seen to be clean, alas where the air was blowing out was just spraying the dust in to the air which you cant see
unless theres a sun beam streamimg through, but anyway after a
few hours the dust settles again,we changed to one of those bagless dysons ,results,Amazing

Dust in the home comes predominately from Pet dander, loose carpet fibers, dirty air conditioner filters and improper cleaning of your dryer lint trap, hoses and vents... and then there is the ever popular exfoliated off bits of skin.

Most of the dust in your home comes from your own body.

I'd say that clothing is the least of your worries. Have your air conditioner and heating unit checked and cleaned and have your carpets either cleaned or replaced by hard wood or tile. And remember to have your dryer vents and tubing cleaned out regularly! I have a little contraption attached to my dryer vent that has a little water well and as the dryer vents out into the tube, whatever passes by it gets caught in the water and can't fly into the air. It works well.

Dust happens...

Hi try dowsing (using a crystal I find is best) for the cause. But it may just be a problem that you will have to live it. It has been windy recently and that may be the case. Wet dusting and vacuuming are the only solution.

Have you looked outside the home? What are you living near to?
You might try a water air filter... filters the air through a "water" filter.

If you have a stone or brick fire place. This can cause increased ammounts of dust, seal and see what happens, good luck.
