I used to shop at Walmart, but I don't now. In rural areas (where I live) they have shut down local groceries and shops, and now Walmart's prices have gone up after these places have closed. After seeing that each member of the Walton family makes 15 billion a year, that was a turnoff. They are also getting into numerous organizations in which I don't believe in. They could do more charitable work considering their money that they make, and I do not agree with their employee benefits and how they treat them. SO, all that being said, I would rather shop on-line at different stores and spend more money at the pump traveling past them to shop.

I will not shop at WalMart. But I would imagine there are so many children in the store at one time that you are bound to find at least one having a tantrum. They trick people into thinking they are getting good deals. The quality of their products is terrible. You may be able to buy a shirt there for $4, but I guarantee you it will be misshapen after the 1st wash. In addition, the workers are not treated well, take a moment and ask a WalMart worker if they are happy with their job? WalMart Executives really have America fooled.

Customer - I hate Walmart. I am a 28 yr. old mother and one night my child was sick and I rushed to Walmart to get some over the counter cold medicine. They wouldn't sell me the cold medicine because I couldn't prove I was over 18, (I had forgotten my license at home). And I use to be an associate at this store. I even told them so. So I went less than a mile down the road and was able to buy cold meds., without a second look from the cashier. I have never bought any meds from Walmart since and I know they don't miss my money, but Walgreens now gets all that business. Thank you Walgreens!

I have never shopped at a WalMart and never will.
Their prices aren't any lower than any other stores; they just blind-side customers with a few loss leaders and create the impression that they have "low prices - everyday". But most shoppers aren't savvy enough to comparison shop and figure that out.
Service has to be inferior since - like most big chain stores - they pay minimum wage, provide little training, and even less product knowledge. I'd bet if I went into any WalMart super store today less than 10% of its check-out lanes would be opened. The longer you have to stand in line, the more likely you'll buy some of that high-margin merchandise stashed along the check-out lane.
Finally, WalMart treats their employees like so much camel dung, especially their employees in China who are virtual slaves. They browbeat their vendors into providing the lowest price even if the vendor ends up going bankrupt. Yet, four of Sam Walton's descendants are always listed on Forbes' Top Ten Richest People in the World. That's just sheer greed. Why don't those rich Bentonville snobs share their wealth with their customers, employees, and the rest of the world?
There have been too many reports about how this store operates ruthlessly and without moral conscience. Sam Walton must be turning over in his grave; I really believe he wanted to serve only those small communities that had no big chain stores. Instead, WalMart comes to town, forces tax incentives and other 'perks' from the local municipal government under the pretense of "creating" good jobs; and proceeds to put all the independent businesses out of business.
The new CEO is trying to change WalMart's poor image, but it's going to take a lot more than glitzy warm-and-fuzzy ads and a few positive press releases. WalMart needs to change its corporate culture so that its priorities are:
1) EMPLOYEES
2) CUSTOMERS
3) VENDORS
4) MANAGERS
5) LAST - AND LEAST - WALMART EXECUTIVES, SHAREHOLDERS, and FAMILY MEMBERS.

This is the most despicable example of retail avarice in the history of U.S. consumerism. They take advantage of low-incomed people, take advantage of their employees, and take advantage of the entire American system of fair competition and economic stability. WalMart owners and family members are gluttonous pigs. Let's see them give their wealth away like Warren Buffet and Bill Gates have done! -RKO-

I am a customer and they have the convenience factor and good deals. I just don't like having to maneuver between all of the Mexican families and their 5 kids. Walmart is usually packed which can cause claustrophobia and people that get in my way. It is always enjoyable to go down the aisle and bump people with my super Walmart shopping cart running people over like I was Mad Max.

I work there ( over 10 years),
There good ideas on running the place, but there is little to no training, so all the good ideas don't get implemented.
aslo, customer service is affected badly by people not knowing what to do.
I usually enjoy my job, but there is a discipline problem where I Am, and in fact many places. ( i've worked 3 different stores)
if someone is written up for somehing
they get three writeups before they are fired....
well, it turns out that if they are on #2, and there is a short hand problem ( with the pay its not hard) they are reluctant to fire anyone for fear of not replacing them

In my area, wal-mart pays $6.00 to start,
and macdonalds pays $7

you haveto be there a lenght of time to make enough money to support a faimly. (of course now they are pay-capping us) so no more raises after you hit a certain dollar amount
( its like $13 for entry positions)

oh well, its a job, I do the best I can to makeshoppers happy. Usually do fairly well.

I hate having to shop at WalMart but the truth is that sometimes there are things that I need around the house that are the cheapest there. There is one close so its not even out of my way.

While I prefer the cleanliness and style of Target, I object to paying several dollars more for basic stuff just to get it.

I shop there, I'm not happy about it, but I do less than five times a year.

Oooooh I SO should NOT be answering this question and I will TRY real hard to hide my disdain for Wal*Mart. :o) First, I will say that I have acutally shopped there so I can base my opinion on that.

I think they give their employees the shaft on a a regular basis and I also think that customers who think they are getting big bargains get the shaft on a a regular basis as well.

I have been to probably 7 different Wal*Marts over the years and they are NOT always cheaper and in each case I found the meat and especially the produce to be inferior to other stores in the areas in question. They DO fill the need for people but so do a lot of other stores.

My sister lives in Missouri and knows people first hand that were treated badly by Wal*Mart as customrers and particularly employees. My brother is a banker in MIchigan and knows first hand their policies that are terrible for business.

Small businesses deserve to be able to serve the community and Wal*mart seems to pride itself in putting them under.

Sorry I am so crabby. It is one of my pet peeves. KInd of like buying foreign cars instead of buying American! Thanks for "listening" though!

PS I am not a "stupid liberal" I am not a liberal at all.
