Ritz Carlton Rose Hall is ok. Too busy for me. The actual Rose Hall (Montego Bay) is nice historical place to visit. October is the tail end of hurricane season, so you will have to watch for the weather as the day approaches. But, it also depends on where on the island you will be. Sometimes, there is a major rain storm on one part of the island, and an hour away it is sunny and hot.

I'be been to Rose Hall - the actual Rose Hall, not the resort. Are you staying at the resort? It looks lovely! Make sure you take a tour of the actual Rose Hall - the home of the white witch Annie Palmer.
I have been to Jamaica several times - I try to go every year. I'll be there over New Years this time. In October the weather is lovely - mid to high 80's on the North side of the island. Email me if you have any specific questions - hopefully I can help you out!

My wife and I have stayed at the Ritz Carlton Rose Hall. It is very nice.
I think you'll experience weather in the high 70's to mid-80's.
Check with the weather channel for hurricane warnings.
I think you want me to be honest more than you want me to be diplomatic. Since I've been right there, I will be very honest with you.
While staying at a nice resort in Jamaica is nice and pretty, beyond that (I found) that there isn't much else to do in Jamaica because of the extreme poverty. That isn't a judgemnent of Jamaican people or the country -- but it is a stone cold fact.
You can only walk through Montego Bay or Ocho Rios so much. The shopping is all very cheap t-shirt shop style stuff. The people are friendly -- but all trying to hassle you to have you buy something. It gets old.
There are places where it seemed dangerous too. Another couple were in an automobile accident in their rental car and spent several hours in a Jamaican jail. Not good.
Don't rent a car there -- take taxis whereever you go. It isn't safe to drive there.
The beaches are OK but nothing special.
Dunn River Falls was kind of cool -- walking up this waterfall with groups of people.
Good food is scarce outside of the resort too.
The actual Rose Hall where the white witch was supposedly from was OK. It was like a fairy tale and while it sounds interesting -- it too gets old after a while.
If you like to go on vacation and stay exactly at a nice resort and not venture out and go anywhere else -- Jamaica can be fine.
If you are a druggie you'll love Jamaica. If you drink alot you can just numb yourself and enjoy it too. If you are a nudist -- there are several resorts for you.
If you are not a drinking, drugging, nudist -- there are nicer places to enjoy.
Sorry if this let's you down a bit.
