Frank was shoved up against the wall. Tears formed in his eyes, but he refused to say anything.
The first man came up to him and pistol-whipped him in the face with a gun. Frank winced. "You think you can escape from here? This is your new home, and you're just going to have to learn that."

As they slammed Frank against the wall, he felt tears prick his eyes but remained silent.
Without a word, the first man strode forward and pistol-whipped him across the face.
"You think you can escape from here?"
Frank groaned, dribbling blood from his nose and mouth.
"This is your new home, buddy." The man raised the pistol again as if to strike him, then casually polished the muzzle on the corner of his jacket. "You'd better get used to it."

There was no friendly welcome to the neighborhood for Frank. There was only bump and grind, push and shove. pain and violence waiting for him.
Instead of a courteous handshake, he got instead a taste of a pistol smacked into his mug. That's how they greeted him and welcomed him to his new neighborhood.
