my pc keeps on hanging up everytime i turn it off. i follow the right way of turning off and i get the 'windows is shutting down' message but when i come in the following day, the message is still on my screen. does this mean there's a virus or information overload in my system?

Almost always this means that there is a driver that is not functioning properly. You will have to make sure your system is 100% up to date with all patches and newest releases for the software you are using, including Windows. This may still not resolve the problem, but it is a place to start.

A service/process isn't responding. Check event viewer for possible causes.
Type: eventvwr
into the Run command. Ignore the Security Log.

Usually it means that a driver of some harware peripheral is giving you problems.

I think there are debugging tools that records every action during the shutdown that can show you which one is causing the failure.

information overload in your system

or bad sector in your harddisk

delete temp files.

use another browser such as firefox, opera,...
