I am located in australia. the dealership I purchased the car from only provided me with one set of correct keys and two sets of incorrect keys(belong to some other cars). I realised the mistake late last year. I contacted them to seek the whereabout of the other keys with no success.
I made 2 duplicates of the keys but they cannot start the engine (because these duplicates haven't been programmed) Yesterday, I lost that only set of workable key. I contacted the dealerday again today to see if they can provide me with a new master key(that is programmed to match my car)
Their(the dealership) response now is: because you lost your master key, they cannot simply duplicate the key. but to change the system and the code of my car altogether and to manufacture a new master key for me. AT MY COST. which they quoted could be around AUS $2500 My dad suggested me to contact the toyota factory directly to get the code. He believes all the details are stored in their worldwide database

It is very much possible, that they have a database for the codes crossed with your Vin number. I think the real problem for you is, how are you going to get in contact with someone in Toyota who can actually help you. The company is so big. But I would certainly try, if had to spend that kind of money. I would also complain about the dealership for their mistake of giving you the wrong keys and how they want to hustle you for so much money when it was their fault. My suggestion, don't get your hopes up too high, you may have to spend that money to get your car started again. Good Luck!!!

BULL DROPPINGS! To put it mildly. Your toyota key is introduced to the imobilizer like many used these days. Find the biggest flashy Lock-Smith and Phone them up. These days Locksmiths have cracked the codes. With the the duplicates and sets that don't work they will be able to use there Note Book computer to generate the lock code. Reflash the Imobilizer and introduce the keys to the body control so the engine systems work. Remind them that you tried to start the car with an unauthorized key car might be in lock mode. I expect less than $125 US for service call and lock servive
