All of those answers sound good, and will probably work, but don't forget an electronic pest repeller. Mine seems to work pretty well.

I am going through the flea thing right now too, we have a sand foundation and this year was horrible for fleas here in Michigan! Check out this link for helpful hints:
http://www.catsofaustralia.com/fleasgetr...
I did what this article said and I was able to rid my home of fleas, so far anyway...
I treated my cat with Advantage, I vacuumed thoroughly, under couches and beds, I washed all bedding and clothes that were on the floor, all rugs, I then bought a few bombs made by Adams, set them off (read instructions thoroughly), I then vacuumed again and sprayed an upolsty and carpet spray by Adams on areas under couch cushions and and couches, anything the bomb could not reach, then each day after I vacuumed again and again, making sure I got everything.... make sure you are throwing your vacuum bags away. It's expensive, I am not going to lie.... it's definitely costly.... I have never been infested before, my mistake was not treating my cat in the Spring. If I had done that I would have never gotten a problem. Advantage and Front line are expensive, but I found that the store bought ones, like Hertz don't work.
Good luck, it's alot of work, but I think you can do it.

You have to start a regular cycle of using something on ur dog, ur house, and ur carpet. Try frontline for ur pets. You'll need to vacuum every day for awhile and try using a fogger, then follow up with another fogger 4 to 6 weeks later. Fleas can live in carpet for a really long time. So vacuum a lot.

Don't forget to treat your yard as well as your house. You can usually find good insect sprays, some specifically for fleas and ticks, that you can spray around the outside of your house. Try stores that specialize in pet care (like PetSmart of PetCo), they should have some good products for outside use. You can also hire an exterminator, who can work both inside and outside. I've gone through this myself a few times over the last decade or so, and what I find works best for me is flea bombs and sprays. I bathe my cat with a flea shampoo or pyrethrin, maybe two or three times over the course of a month. I also use flea collars and all natural flea sprays that I can spray right on him. On average, it might take over a month to entirely rid your pet and home of fleas, so be patient. Like most insects, fleas have four life stages- egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Most flea products only kill the larva and the adult, so be sure to use products with an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) that also kills the eggs. Unfortunately, I don't think anything has been proven to kill the pupa and they can survive for months. However it's been discovered that the adults emerge from the pupa when they feel vibrations. This is why many flea sprays suggest you vacuum before spraying. The vibrations from the vacuum inspire the adults to come out of the pupa, so they will be vulnerable to the spray. So to sum it up, it won't take just one treatment, and it might take a few weeks to get rid of them entirely, but don't give up. Good Luck!

We bought a house a few years ago and when we moved in I started noticing fleas in the house and when we would step off the porch we would get covered in fleas. I called our local Pest control. They came out and sprayed the yard and house, most places will guarnatee to get rid of them on the first visit or they will come back out for free. Needless to say they had to come out at least 4 times before it finally got rid of them. I tried all the other stuff and just wasted my money. So I would highly recommend calling someone to come and spray. Good luck

THIS WILL WORK!! Sprinkle Boric Acid in your carpet, leave it for a short time, atleast one hour and vacuum, you can buy this cheaply , at places even at Wal*Mart...leave in place that pets can't get too behind the fridge and along crack in the doorways, it'll get rid of other pests in a timely fashion!

If you have pets try frontline, you can buy it online and it clears it up, depending on how bad you have them, in a week.
