Night terrors. If you search that you will find a lot that will put your mind at rest. That and sleep paralysis. If you read all about it it will probabaly make you feel better. It's more common than you think.

I have similar experiences. Sometimes, when I wake up, I feel like I can't move my body at all. It takes at least a couple of seconds before I could feel my toes or anything. It's almost as if something is pushing me down. It makes me feel kind of helpless!

I think it might have to our nerves system while sleeping. I don't know. A professional can answer that more clearly.

yes this happened to me when I was about 19 years old, i am now 39, and i'll never forget how weird it was, it was like a black figure (shadow sort of) and i could not breathe! I shared my "nightmare" with a friend and she told me to say Jesus anytime this would occur. The next time it happened even though I could not open my mouth - as soon as I thought of the name the "spell' broke. It didn't happen again.

The only thing I ever had grab me was my husband and it wasn't scary! I hope what you are describing never does, that sounds terrible, I hope things get better for you. However I agree with the comment above: Sounds like maybe Satan, just remember God is more powerful than him, and one thought or mentioning of Gods name will make the devil run! Good Luck~Take Care.

Yes it used to happen to me alot, it really scared me and I thought I was being haunted by a poltergeist or something. Then I found out about sleep paralysis and see if this rings a bell for you!

A number of people with severe sleep paralysis say they hallucinate while they're frozen, sometimes hearing frightning sounds or the experience of an "old lady" (Hag), sitting on their chest.

Sufferers have horrible nightmare type hallucinations. They see dark, hooded figures as they lie helpless in bed and some women report feelings of being raped. Others see bright lights and swear they were abducted by aliens while other's have reported hearing knocking sounds on walls, voices, footsteps, experience shaking of the body, ringing of the ears, or of being in a dream-like state, yet feeling fully awake.

(Before people claimed of being abducted by aliens, Sleep Paralysis victims would say they were being visited by spirits or dead ancestors).

Sleep Paralysis strikes during the transition between dreaming sleep called REM sleep, (rapid eye movements), and being fully awake. During REM sleep, your body keeps you safe from acting out on your dreams by temporarily paralyzing you. Sometimes, your brain doesn't fully switch off those dreams or the paralysis when you wake up, which explain's the "frozen" feeling and hallucinations associated with sleep paralysis.

The effects last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, but it feels like forever to the person who's experiencing it.

The biggest effect is that you're scared to death, and if you add an hallucination, it's even worse.

Try to remain calm, try to move a finger, toe, scream out!

The paralysis will not kill you, or leave you permanently paralyzed, and no, you're not going crazy! Many people suffer of Sleep Paralysis, and medical attention should be sought which may uncover any illness which may be affecting the person. ( To suffer from Sleep Paralysis doesn't mean you're sick, to seek medical attention is just for your well being ). Medications can also be administered for severe cases, and sometimes simple routines can minimize the effects of Sleep Paralysis:

-Excercise, but not before bedtime.

-sleep at a regular schedule (get up and go to bed the same time every day).

-reduce stress.

-get enough sleep.

-don't nap.

-don't drink/eat caffine type products before bedtime. Instead, drink caffine free tea, etc.

-take a hot bath before bed, it will relax you.

Medications, Anxiety and Sleep Paralysis:

People who take medicines and drugs for anti-anxiety such as "Xantax" or "Valium" will have a greater chance of suffering from Sleep Paralysis. For others, the problem is often tied to sleep deprivation, a consequence of being overtired. Sleep paralysis often appears as a secondary problem for people with sleep-robbing mental illnesses like severe anxiety and bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive psychosis.

People who tend to sleep on their backs can also experience sleep paralysis.

used to happen to me all the time- really scary. i used to try and fight it off- and i would wake up the next day with sore- some times pulled muscles. Feels crazy to say but it probably really real. I think its a spiritual thing. i started praying before i went to sleep- now i have really positive dreams.

I have never experienced this, but have heard of it before. My ex's family calls this "the devil got on me". They describe it as yourself.. can't breathe, scream, or move. His aunt has even reported bruises from fighting it off.

They claim this has been going on for years.I don't know what it means.. but this is my 2 cents.

i have heard stories like this. it sounds like it's the jinn (not a devil but just an evil spirit). you should pray before going to sleep and if your christian have a bible in your room. and remember not to be scared, if you're not scared it will leave you alone.
