couldnt agree more - it used to be like a groovy high tech car boot sale where a few people sold their old crap and got a bit of money for it, and someone else got a bargain.

now with all the shops etc on it, people are just using it to run businesses, you dont get nearly as many bargains on it

so many businesses are selling on it that people cant get a good price for their own things as they get undercut.

the only thing its good for in my opinion is finding rare things that are no longer sold or that you cant get where you live

Sure has gone down hill......I've been selling/buying for 6 years. I used to do it for a living and made about $500+ a week. Had to go back to a real job about 1 year after I started selling full time. (Now I do it just for fun) There's way to much competition on Ebay.....Plus all the Ebay/Paypal fees and postage fees have made it even tougher to sell and make money.

Yep.
They have got too greedy and are no longer the community encouragers that they used to be.

I still use it to buy/sell, but Ebay's own greed tactics nowadays are becoming really difficult to come to terms with aghainst my own principles.

If a site started up based on the original principles then I would be the first to jump across.

It's good for us here in the UK who seem to get ripped off on the high street, but there are so many resellers now the value is starting to thin.

Its a handy way of valuing items that you intend to sell locally, but to be fair it just makes you realise that what you actually have is junk and should be binned.

Totally! I sell every week, but the fees kill me, the trick is not to accept Credit/Debit Cards via Paypal then you can at least keep some money!!

Yep, overpriced postage and phishing/scam emails have all contributed to the downfall. Pity, its agreat place to view stuff instead of going to car boots and charity shops!

it has because eBay have out priced them selves for the small seller who if they cover the cost of their postage after charges they are lucky, so not a place for good bargains any more..esp for the small individual seller

Not just the last year!
for a few years now, they have increased their customer base tremendously, while at the same time keeping their customer support at the same (low) level.
when it is working OK, it is a reasonably good company.
when things go wrong, they are crap.
to many issues to put on one simple post, just crap, crap, crap
