Thanx for all that feedback....its just nice to know there are people with open minds and people that seem to have a very optimistic way of viewing/taking life...there r too many non-learners in this world which would do good to learn that most of life is what we make it and therefore can make our own lifes as good or bad as we like....

A simple mind. If you're a thinker, you can always think yourself into total chaos.

No, don't try to be simple minded, just try to think pleasant thoughts, and the biggest obstacle is to let the bad things other people do & say go. You can't dwell on it, you can't make it let you angry, because this is what starts most stress.

Contentment can actually be achieved without the use of drugs or alcohol if you just learn to forget the bad stuff, and that's a hard thing to do.

Good luck!

I once heard a 'teacher' called Gangaji say that "maturity is accepting that things may never be as good as this again".
My own experience so far in this ongoing path of discovery, is that the contentment and happiness that I previously had, came to seem incomplete ,and that view moved me on.
The trouble with wanting happiness, etc ,whether one has it or not is that one will compromise to accommodate one's preferences.
The identification with one's preferences ,brings a kind of embeddedment in the 'form' aspect of reality, and obscures that part of reality /one's self which is undisturbed already.
This 'undisturbed' aspect can accommodate unhappiness, and discontent ,but can only become more fully expressive through the eroding of identification ,by experiencing those things we'd rather not.
It is also possible to influence your reality through your intentions, however if one's intentions are for one's own comfort ,this won't in itself bring the peace ,that we all recognise ,in our different ways ,to be healthy .

I believe this is possible. It can happen. But what is happiness? Is it a sensation? Is it a feeling? Or is it a memory? What is it? We have seen people content and graceful in sorrow. We have seen people generous in poverty and dignified in adversity. These are the things we normally associate with unhappiness but people can happiness in all these. What could be that enables us to transcend all these things?

If someone asks himself or herself - am I happy? In this a subjective state of mind that person is more likely to be unhappy. But if we ask ourselves instead - what is happiness? This is an objective state of inquiry. We can examine happiness in terms of tings that we believe have potential to make us happy or unhappy. Happiness in this case is not something that can happen to us instead it is something that can be searched and found.

In order to be happy we need to be able to contain happiness first, not the other way round. The experience of being ourselves is something that surpasses all other experiences. We experience the capacities of our heart, mind and soul through various means. We love and care each other. We fall in love. We establish relations. We follow faiths and disciplines. We do not necessarily search for sensational happiness from any of these but we know that we will be happy.

All that is needed for you to be happy and content, is to find out what it takes to make you happy and content - and then do it.

A good excercise is to write down 10 things that make you happy, 10 things you like to do, 10 things you like to see, smell, touch, taste, feel etc. 10 things that make you laugh, 10 things that touch your heart - you get the idea. Until you do this you don't actually realise what makes you happy. If you write down things that make you sad and upset, you can learn to avoid those too - this also aids happiness. I find reading newspapers and magazines quite depressing - so I never do it. Contentment is slightly different - you have to work out what you can live without (and its actually most of what is around us). If you live your life to your contentment - and do things that make you happy - then -hey presto- you are there. And the best thing is that you orchestrated it.

probably to achieve any Goal in life, the first and formost thing required is getting convinced that The Goal is Real and achievable. Almost all achievements in this world are achieved by the Great people who had Imagination to get convinced of the Goals and the courage to walk forward to that Goal ... then there is a atleast a 50% chance for success ... but if you don't believe in those goals, better do not walk that path, because chances of failure is almost 100%. probably, walk only that path where we have conviction... where we have inherent strengths and tastes ...

Yes,it's possible to be happy and be content, while still recognizing that you don't feel happy and content. That is what you are trying to change. There are ideas you believe and conclusions you've reached that are simply not true, yet you've been examining yourself and your life in light of them.Don't over identify with your feelings,if you feel unhappy, don't be unhappy.Ask yourself why you feel that way. If you're honest the answers will come.

To live life to the full within acceptable and lawful limits. Debits owed are honoured, what needs to be done, just do it, do your job and always look at the bright side of life and let the rest take effect! It is difficult to forgive and forget, but it is one golden rule that when applyed to life, makes it easier to find happiness in life.

Yes its very possible to be happy in life, the first thing you need around you is a loving family , then you need a willingness to work, and share your joy with others, the old saying is right, whatever you sow, you shall reap, yes, material things are nice, but they are not, the bee all, and end all of things, good luck to you in your quest.

Yes, everyone should stop trying to be happy and content and let happiness find them. As the Budda said, "There is no path to happiness, happiness is the way" - a little bit cheesy I know but hey.
