is the metropole hotel good?

Would highly recommend staying in Brugges - a half hour on the train out of Brussels, but much prettier and loads of chocolate shops and beer! There are a number of B&Bs and hotels there.
And the best pub (serving a few hundred beers - but you'll be unlikely to get through more than a few) is on Kamelstraat (camel street).

Can't help with a hotel but you must take her for a meal at the Auberge Napoleon, not far from the centre. It's in my personal top 100 restaurants of the world, close to the top!
All taxi drivers know it, it's world class and you could probably still have a meal for 2 for 100usd upwards.
It's near the Atomium and Expo place.
She'll love it!
