i ment towed by rope backwards whilst in 1st gear

The engine would rotate anti clockwise.
As reverse gear and 1st gear are the same ratio, the engine would be turning over excessively fast which may well result in some mechanical damage particularly if you dropped the clutch very suddenly.

BANG!! (where am i??) (whats that light??) then we can watch you on Youtube and say what a knob!! then leave bad comments and poor rating!!

ps: you cant get towed in reverse then clutch it going forward!(unless the rope broke on a hill!)

It depends on which end of the car was off the road when it was being towed and if your car was front or rear wheel drive!
