Get a grip!
The only reason you need mental days are because you are incompetent and can't do your job. If you are performing your job and you are good at it you shouldn't have the need for mental days as your enjoying your job and therefore get gratification from doing it well.
Get a job you can do and stop blaming the employer, you likely think you are just a victim of circumstance. this is B.S!
You have 3 options.
1) Change it
2) Conform to it
3) Get out of it.

If someone in your family has died.
If you are under alot of stress and cant work, I would not actually tell anyone this and call it mental days..not too many brownie points in there for you.
