That's a great question...While Bender is surly and often drunk or chasing women, Data would never even think of picking your pocket for gambling money! Bender is great for a weekend Bender but long term, I think Data would provide a truer companion. Just think you could go back in "time" on the holo-deck and play Sherlock-Holmes.

Do the Bender! Yea, he and Fry made the practice nicely worth gazing. you recognize Comedy common ordered 13 new episodes for summer time 2007 -and- Matt Groening plans on making 4 direct to dvd video clips!

If I spent more than two minutes with Data I'd try to reprogramme him with a mallet; but me and Bender would be great drinking buddies, we'd go out, get drunk, then shout abuse at passers-by. Fun times.
