Boric (sometimes called boracic) acid is about the only thing that will kill cockroaches. It's the basis of all expensive pest control products. It has the advantage that it's not harmful to mammals, so is relatively safe around children and pets.
You also need to clean thoroughly to get rid of their dirt and eggs. A pest control company has the experience and tools to deal with this, so it's often more efficient to call one of these. In the UK most councils have a Pest Control Department and the service may be free.

Most of the Marts carry a product called Home Defense, it's good. I use it every three months to prevent infestations.
It kills and puts up a barrier around the house to prevent the bugs from coming in.
Or you can call your local professional to come spray for you.

I just got a book of all natural "critter ridders" a few weeks ago and for roaches it says:
Place a shallow bowl where you are seeing the roaches with equal parts of baking soda and powdered sugar and it will kill them. Keep this away from pets and small children.
It also says you can sprinkle boric acid in non-food areas (I think you can get that at a pharmacy) but keep away from children.

Boric acid , it is very effective when used properly for killing
cockroaches and most other insects.
You can also get a house lizard, they are natural enemies and will eat them. More information at http://tinyurl.com/ofxkk

say something offensive about thier promiscuous mothers... Or a surface spray... Only joking around. Times like these all you can do is laugh. I came home to find my electricity disconnected once. The fridge smelt horrid! I needed a good laugh at the time. Everybody else has great ideas so i thought i'd throw in some humor for you!
