sounds like your brakes are dragging find out which one it is. is it pulling to one side? if so the one on the front to side its pulling to. try replacing brake line or caliper, one is bad. open bleeder to see if pressure relieves, if not its a brake line, if so its a caliper. try this on all four wheels if it has four calipers. are the shoes too tight on the rear(drum type) try backing them off. and check for leaks on the wheel cylinders as well.

One of the brake pads are pressed against the rotor (front) or the drum (rear)....that's why you have the burning AND the noise!
NOW that stuck brake HAS warped that specific rotor or drum, and damaged the pads on it.....time to check the cylinder/caliper to see if it's sticking....
Did your friend "push in" the cylinders before installing the pads? You gotta do that. Did your friend press the brakes BEFORE installing the pads? That will pop/misalign the cylinders and cause leaks and sticking....
You'll know which one is at fault when you attempt to remove the DRUM or the CALIPER....it'll be REALLY STUCK.

depends on if its your front or rear brakes-if its the front the pad is installed incorectly and its jammed into your rotor and stuck-if its your rear brakes (considering theyre drum brakes)they might not of hooked the emergency brake back up and it is jaming the brake shoes into the drum or the e-brake bracket itself could be jammed into the rotor-also if the didnt put a spring back on the back or if one broke or if they just didnt put it together right at all your brakes are pressed out and jammed against the drum-this would definatly make a noise and smell burnt-also just put your car in drive and let off the brake-if it doesnt roll like normal or if it doesnt roll at all you definatly have a stuck brake-also if it is your front brakes another option is a caliper stickin out-check these things out before you have to replace the breaks again in 2 weeks due to premature and uneven wear-this will eventuall eat into your rotor or drum-hope this helps ya

The brakes are adjusted too tight. Or the emergency cable is too tight. Take it to a qualified tech before you have some real trouble or an accident. Master tech 40 years.
