Confusing two separate ideas..
murder is not in adversely stepping on a ant or crushing a insect
now is it.
And what do we really know if or how we are accountable
it's Buddhist who worry about moths and animals I'm not sure
that religious text gives animal kingdom the question much attention

Yes, Buddhists believe so. To take any life intentionally and without reason is murder. To take life unintentionally through lack of care shows lack of care for God's creation.

Note the caveats 'without reason' and 'through lack of care'. We are answerable to God for the power of reason which is His gift to us and we are answerable to Him for our respect for His creation.

For those who do not believe in a personal God but rather in a creative force from whom we all derive - plants, bacteria, ants, higher animals and humans - this attitude works just as well. One simply needs to change the way of saying it.

It depends whether you kill them purposely or by mistake step on them.Ofcourse we can't refrain from stepping on them because they are every where but if you purposely step on them to kill them then that's wrong. But yes for instance they are getting into your kitchen and spoiling your sugar jars then ofcourse you got to kill them by just spraying some pesticide, don't pick each and every ant and burn it with matches that would be wrong.

if you delibrately kill the ants then perhaps there would be more of a chance you'd be held accountable but even then i doubt anything too serious would happen to you, i mean we all kill ants every day, i mean they're every where, but don't kill them delibrately that is just mean!!

i've once tot about this b4.....and as this is very much of an opinion question, especially nowadays, i believe u can make a better judgement if u imagine urself living in a world where giants which are 1000 times bigger than us rules the planet instead of homo sapiens, how would u call the death of those crushed under the feet of the giants?

I believe if we are accidently stepping on ants, we wouldn't be held accountable, but if one is intentionally stomping on them, you could.

I think its only within our species. Gee didnt Jesus go fishing?? And wasnt Joseph (the one with the technicolored raincoat) a sheperd? Im sure they didnt raise sheep and goats for the fun of it! Im sure we will be fine as far as that goes:-)

Perhaps, but most ants are very durable, so as long as you are not purposefully killing them... =P
